Russia prevents 'terrorist attacks' against aircraft carrier and three senior Defence Ministry officials

The FSB is directly targeting Ukrainian special forces for their role in organizing these plans.

Russian authorities said Wednesday they had prevented a “terrorist attack” against an aircraft carrier in the city of Murmansk and three senior officials of the Ministry of Defense in the capital, Moscow, plans for which they have directly accused Ukrainian special forces.

The Federal Security Service (FSB) has indicated in a statement published on its website that security forces have arrested a Russian citizen who is believed to have planned the murder of three senior officials after receiving instructions from kyiv to carry out bomb attacks “disguised as gifts.”

“The detainee has confessed that he was recruited in May 2024 by a member of the Ukrainian Military Intelligence and that he agreed to carry out tasks related to the preparation of terrorist acts in Russia in exchange for material compensation,” he said, before adding that the explosives were to be “sent by mail” and “activated” after receiving notification of delivery.

The report also said that another Russian citizen deployed on an aircraft carrier “was contacted by a Ukrainian special services officer” via WhatsApp and Telegram, using “psychological pressure,” including “promises to travel abroad with false documents, payment of a large amount of money and threats of criminal liability for financing the Ukrainian Armed Forces through false evidence,” to “persuade him to commit a terrorist attack against a military ship.”

“After the officer contacted the security agencies and under his full control, measures were taken within the framework of an operational game to document the illegal activities (of the Ukrainian agent) and identify possible agents and accomplices of the Kiev regime,” he stressed, before detailing that Ukraine promised this man that he would be “evacuated to Finland” once he carried out an attack against the ‘Admiral Kuznetsov’.

Finally, the FSB has stressed that “all the organizers and accomplices of these crimes, including foreign citizens, have been placed under arrest warrant and will be tried in line with Russian law,” without the Ukrainian authorities having yet commented on this information.
