The Ibex corrects in the mid-session and loses 0.25%, but maintains 11,030 points

The Ibex 35 has slightly corrected the decline it had registered at the opening, so that at mid-session it stood at 11,029.6 points, 0.25% below Wednesday’s close.

Investors will be keeping an eye on the UK elections and the publication of the minutes of the last ECB meeting, but will not have the US as a reference point, as markets are closed for Independence Day.

New orders in Germany’s manufacturing sector fell by 1.6% in May compared to the previous month, when they fell by 0.6%, marking the fifth consecutive monthly decline, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reported on Thursday.

On the other hand, the European Union is preparing to impose provisional tariffs of up to almost 38% on battery-electric cars imported from China starting this Thursday, July 4, a measure that comes after weeks of fruitless contacts between Brussels and Beijing to find a solution to the subsidies received by Chinese manufacturers and which Europeans see as an “unfair” advantage against their brands.

Banco Sabadell Chairman Josep Oliu has also called on BBVA to publish “clear, transparent and complete” information on all elements that may have an impact on the value offered in the takeover bid (OPA) launched for the entity he presides.

In this context, the declines in the selective index have been led by Repsol, which fell 1.88% in the mid-session due to the ‘ex-dividend’ effect. It is followed by MeliĆ” (-0.45%), Acciona (-0.37%), Inditex (-0.26%), Amadeus (-0.25%) and Cellnex (-0.19%).

On the other hand, among the main rising stocks were Grifols (+2.26%), CaixaBank (+1.80%), Bankinter (+1.66%), Indra (+1.64%), Solaria (+1.25%) and Logista (+1.20%).

Only the Ibex 35 was trading in the red at mid-session among the main European stock markets. London was up 0.65%; Paris, 0.74%; Frankfurt, 0.29% and Milan, 0.55%.

In the commodities market, the barrel of Brent fell 0.55% in mid-session to $86.85, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) reached $83.34, down 0.64%.

On the debt market, the yield on the 10-year Spanish bond rose to 3.043%, from 3.378% at the close on Wednesday. However, the risk premium was unchanged at 79.3 basis points.

As for currencies, the euro appreciated by 0.08% against the dollar, trading at an exchange rate of 1.0795 dollars per unit of the common currency.
