April 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The political leader of the Islamist movement Hamas, Ismail Haniye, has insisted that any negotiation with Israel for the return of the hostages in the hands of the Palestinian militias passes through the triple condition that “the attacks against the Palestinian population end”, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza and the return of prisoners in Israeli jails.

Haniye, who has been visiting Turkey to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has insisted that “the moment Israel accepts these demands,” Hamas “will be ready to reach an agreement.”

The political leader of Hamas has also referred to the hypothetical political status of the Gaza Strip when the war ends and assured that he will not allow “the occupiers” to decide “who governs” amid the possibility that Israel ends up declaring a zone of security within the enclave.

“Gaza is governed by Palestinians and this issue is of national interest,” Haniye told the Anadolu agency before insisting on his “two-phase” plan to “regulate Palestinian national politics.”

First, a “reorganization of the Palestine Liberation Organization to include all Palestinian groups” and then “a national unity government to rebuild Gaza and unify institutions with the West Bank before holding general elections.”

Finally, the political leader of Hamas reproached the double standard exhibited by the United States, which holds “a misleading position no matter how much it says that it does not want civilian victims, when all the civilians killed in Gaza have ended that way due to American weapons.”
