April 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, held a telephone conversation this Sunday with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, to ask him once again to refrain from taking measures that could further fuel tension in the Middle East.

“The chancellor has particularly emphasized that the objective right now is to avoid a regional conflagration,” said Chancellor's spokesman Steffen Hebestreit in a statement published on the German government's website.

Scholz also explained to Netanyahu the recent decision “of the Heads of State and Government in the European Council to impose new sanctions against Iran” following last week's attack against Israel.

Likewise, the chancellor has promised Netanyahu that the federal government will continue to collaborate with its partners in the G7 group, as well as the European Union, in this regard.
