April 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the United States House of Representatives, Republican Mike Johnson, revealed this Monday that he intends to propose a vote on the United States budget separated into four parts, thus dividing a document that includes aid funds for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, in addition to funding for border security, this last point being the main reason why Republicans have refused to approve the proposal.
“We will not vote on the Senate supplement in its current form, but we will vote on each of these measures separately in four different parts,” Johnson assured reporters after a meeting with House Republicans, as published by the CBS News television network.
In that sense, he has declared that the text will be published throughout Tuesday to give congressmen 72 hours to study it before the vote.
Although Johnson had resisted approving the US Senate's funding proposal, Iran's recent attack on Israel has put him under even more pressure to push the budget forward. If this new strategy goes well, it would satisfy the most radical Republicans, who show total support for Israel while resisting giving more money to Ukraine as long as the budget for border security is not increased.
