26 Aug. (Portaltic/EP) –

The executive director of Meta, mark zuckerberghas shared that it will launch in new virtual reality (VR) headset coming in Octobercoinciding with its Connect event, which last year saw the name change of the company and its new drift in the development of the metaverse.

Zuckerberg has confirmed the arrival of the new viewer in the podcast of The Joe Rogan Experiencefrom Spotify, where he also talked about some of its features, mainly eye and face tracking technologies that will enable new social functions.

Specifically, the director has indicated that users will be able to experience “something like eye contact in virtual reality“Having your face monitored in such a way that your avatar isn’t just this motionless thing, but if you smile or if you frown or if you pout or whatever your expression is, to have that translated in real time in your avatar.”

This technology matches the cambria Project, that Zuckerberg himself advanced last year during Connect. Then, he pointed out that these are VR helmets that they are working on, and that in addition to being compatible with Quest helmets and reproducing eye contact and expressions in real time in the avatars thanks to the integrated sensors. This team will show the image in high resolution and mixed reality.

In May, the director of Meta also shared a demonstration, where he appears wearing one of these viewers, although pixelated, preventing his design from being known. He pointed out that it is a high-end teamwhich will be available later this year and will offer color contrast to enhance virtual experiences.

Now Zuckerberg has confirmed that his new VR headset, presumably the Cambria project, will arrive in octobercoinciding with the celebration of a new edition of Connect.
