MADRID Nov. 1 () –
The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, warned this Friday that “the first thousand North Korean soldiers” are already close to the Ukrainian border and has criticized that the international community continues not to allow them to use long-range arsenal to counter these threats.
“Russia is accumulating North Korean soldiers on its territory. We could attack preemptively if we had the ability to do so with sufficient range. And that depends on our partners,” Zelensky said in a speech addressed to the country.
“However, instead of providing the much-needed long-range capabilities, the United States watches, the United Kingdom watches, Germany watches. Everyone is waiting for the North Korean Army to start attacking the Ukrainians,” he reproached.
Zelensky has warned of the great capacity of the North Korean arsenal and has mentioned the launch on the eve of its last ballistic missile, while the world, on the other hand, “watches how this threat grows.”
“North Korea has learned to make better artillery, something it has already done thanks to cooperation with Moscow. It has also learned to make better missiles, something that is already evident. Now, unfortunately, it will learn to wage modern warfare,” Zelensky said.
“The first thousands of North Korean soldiers are not far from the Ukrainian border. Ukrainians will be forced to defend themselves against them, and the world will once again watch,” he said.
Zelensky’s statements come after the United States warned that some 8,000 Ukrainian soldiers were already ready in the Kursk province waiting to enter combat in the “coming days.”
Zelensky has regretted that despite the “repeated occasions” on which they have insisted on the danger of giving time to “these threats” Russia has been allowed to “seek and find allies.”
“No enemy of the free world should be given time to grow. What unites Pyongyang and Moscow? Only their ambition for war (…) North Korea’s participation in this war in Europe is a threat for the entire world,” he warned.
Likewise, Zelensky has called on China to intervene and has criticized the Asian country that despite “frequently talking about ending the war”, continues to be “an observer.”
“All those who truly want to prevent this Russian war against Ukraine from spreading beyond Europe and spreading to other regions of the world must not just watch. They must act. The words about the unacceptable escalation and expansion of the war must be accompanied by facts,” he said.
