Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the Kharkiv front on Monday amid a renewed Russian military offensive against the Ukrainian region, which has suffered numerous power outages due to constant Russian bombing of critical infrastructure.
The Ukrainian president has met with local authorities to discuss the security situation in Kharkiv following the latest attacks by Moscow on Ukrainian energy infrastructure in the region.
“During the meeting, the participants discussed preparations for the winter season in the region. The President stressed that he expects a clear plan to protect the skies of the Kharkiv region and restore energy infrastructure,” the Ukrainian President’s office said in a statement.
Zelensky also visited a forward command post of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Vovchansk. “Today I had the honour to be there to congratulate our special forces warriors,” he said on the social network X.
The Ukrainian president’s visit to Kharkiv comes just hours after the Russian Ministry of Defence announced the capture of Progress and Yevgenovka, two towns in the Ukrainian province of Donetsk.
