September 19 () –
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet next week in the United States with his White House counterpart Joe Biden, as well as with Vice President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, and with his opponent in that November meeting, former Republican President Donald Trump.
Zelensky will meet with Biden and Harris at the White House in separate meetings, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. The meetings will focus on the Russian invasion, “including the strategic plan for Ukraine” and the “unwavering commitment” of the current Democratic leaders.
The Ukrainian presidency has said that Zelensky will present Biden with his new plan to try to defeat Russia. He will also appear before the United Nations General Assembly and meet with other leaders on the sidelines.
Zelensky is also expected to meet with representatives of US energy and defence companies, Democratic and Republican congressmen, as well as the Ukrainian community.
As announced in the last few hours by former US President Donald Trump, Zelensky will also meet with the Republican candidate, the first time they have met face to face since Trump left the White House. Until now, their communication had been limited to a phone call in June.
