Zelensky thanks Estonia and Lithuania for their military and political support since the beginning of the war

September 13 () –

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has thanked Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina and Estonian President Alar Karis for their support to Kyiv at both the military and political levels since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022.

Zelensky has received both leaders in kyiv, although he has held separate meetings; he has discussed strengthening military cooperation and the implementation of the security agreement signed between the two countries with Silina, according to a statement from the Ukrainian presidency.

She also described preparations for the second Peace Summit and the need to involve “as many countries from the Global South as possible” in it.

During his meeting with Karis, Zelensky praised his decision to allocate 0.25 percent of Estonian GDP to help Ukraine’s defense industry and his “active” participation in the reconstruction of the country.

“We are grateful for their support in all areas and for the very important agreement on security cooperation between our countries. We are very happy to have so many strategic partners,” he said.

The two leaders also discussed Ukraine’s progress in the process of joining the European Union, with Estonia providing technical assistance to the Slavic country during the negotiations.
