Zelensky reiterates his intention to recover all Ukrainian regions occupied by Russia

30 Aug. () –

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky reiterated late on Monday that Ukraine will recapture all regions occupied by Russia, including the Crimea region and Ukrainian high-seas territories in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov.

“Ukraine is coming back to itself. And it will get back the Kharkiv region, the Luhansk region, the Donetsk region, the Zaporizhia region, the Kherson region, Crimea, and definitely our entire water area of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, from the island of Snakes to the Kerch Strait”, said the Ukrainian president in his daily speech to the population of the country.

“This is what is going to happen. This is ours. And just as our society understands it, I want the occupiers to understand it too. There will be no place for them on Ukrainian land,” added Zelensky, warning that “this is the war”.

In this sense, the Ukrainian president has indicated his intention to expel “the occupants” beyond the Ukrainian border, and has urged the Russian military to flee “if they want to survive.”

“Go home. If you are afraid to return to your home in Russia, well, let those occupants surrender and we will guarantee you compliance with all the norms of the Geneva Conventions,” Zelensky told the Russian military, giving them the option to surrender.

These words come hours after the Armed Forces in southern Ukraine announced a counteroffensive in the Kherson region, on the shores of the Black Sea, a Ukrainian city under military control since mid-March, after breaking the first line of defense of the Russian troops.
