Zelensky puts at 84,000 cases opened against Russia for “war crimes” committed in Ukraine

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has indicated this Tuesday that the Police are investigating 84,000 cases of alleged “war crimes” committed by Russian troops in the framework of the invasion.

“I thank each of those who investigate these crimes, including war crimes, for the investigations opened by the National Police of Ukraine,” he said during a speech on the occasion of the Day of the Police of Ukraine.

Zelenski has thus announced the creation of a “war criminals” database, which contains some 200,000 folders of “Russian mercenaries and military personnel” involved in this type of crime.

“Establishing the truth about the war crimes committed by the occupying forces on the independent Ukrainian land is a fundamental requirement to bring Russia to justice for its aggression and acts of terrorism,” he said, according to a statement.

In this sense, he stated that kyiv “has done everything possible to ensure that justice is done” and has thanked all “those who have provided evidence” for it. “Russian criminals will finally have to pay for their actions against Ukraine and its people,” she pointed out.
