March 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has invited the Chinese authorities on Tuesday to join the peace plan proposed by Kiev to end the war, started by Russia at the end of February 2022.
In the framework of the visit of the Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, to Ukraine, Zelenski has taken the opportunity to reject the peace plan presented by China, which proposes a ceasefire widely criticized for allowing the presence of Russian troops in Ukrainian sovereign territory.
According to Zelenski, this ceasefire proposal has already been seen on previous occasions and “it is just a freezing of the conflict so that Russia prepares” and returns in the future to try to “occupy” the Ukrainian state.
At this point, the Ukrainian president has valued the peace proposal presented months ago by Kiev and has invited China “publicly” and also “through diplomatic channels” to adhere to it.
Chinese President Xi Jinping met his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Tuesday. This visit has served the United States and other powers and international organizations to ask the Chinese president to also take the opportunity to meet with Zelenski.
In this regard, the Ukrainian head of state has acknowledged that, although kyiv has received “some signals”, there has been no confirmation that President Xi is in favor of holding talks with Zelensky.
