MADRID 28 Nov. () –
The president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, declared this Wednesday to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte that he expects a “decisive and timely” response from the Atlantic Alliance to “the expansion of the war by Russia”, alluding to the latest actions of the Russian Army, which last week attacked the neighboring country with an intercontinental ballistic missile.
This was made known in a phone call in which Zelensky stressed Ukraine’s dependence on NATO support for the “transfer of air defense systems capable of intercepting these missiles.”
The Ukrainian thus expects a concrete response from the Atlantic Alliance at the meeting that will bring together its foreign ministers in the Belgian capital, Brussels, next week.
Zelensky has urged Rutte to “deliver weapons from previously announced aid packages”, highlighting “the importance of Ukraine receiving an invitation to NATO” and the continuity of their defense cooperation.
On the other hand, they have addressed the “risks” posed by the alliance between Russia, Iran and North Korea and, in particular, the “issue of Russia transferring its modern military technologies in exchange for weapons.”
This telephone conversation comes after the NATO countries met urgently this Tuesday to discuss Russia’s use of new generation and experimental weapons in the aggression against the neighboring country, in which they reaffirmed their support for Ukraine. , noting that these new weapons “will not deter (him) from supporting Kiev.”
