MADRID 23 Nov. () –
The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has positioned himself this Saturday in favor of a system change in the country’s military structure to “reduce bureaucracy” and facilitate the management of troops in the fight against Russia.
This same week, Ukrainian military sources told The New Voice of Ukraine portal their intention to undertake a transition from the current brigade system to a corps system by the end of November.
The source noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine need reform because many units were created temporarily and some officers may not know their subordinates or the details of their brigades.
“It is up to the military to decide. If the system of corps that they propose today will reduce the gap between a general and a soldier, if this bureaucracy will be reduced, I want them to do everything possible to achieve this,” Zelensky said in a statement sent by his office, and in which he entrusts this mission to the head of the Army, Oleksander Sirski.
“An officer should see the face of a soldier. For me, personally, despite his experience, and always with due respect: a general who has never set foot in a trench is not a general,” said the president.
