Zelensky confirms "the first hand-to-hand combats" between Ukrainian troops and North Korean soldiers

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyhe confirmed this Tuesday night in his speech to the nation “the first battles” of the Ukrainian troops against the North Korean soldiers who have joined the Russian Army fighting against Ukraine.

“The first combats with North Korean soldiers open a new instability page in the world,” Zelensky said in his speech, in which he once again asked the international community to “do everything possible to ensure that this Russian step to expand the war fails.”

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerovhad previously reported on the first situations of contact on the front between North Korean and Ukrainian soldiers.

The Ukrainian leader thanked all the countries that “have reacted to the deployment of North Korean soldiers in Russia” and especially mentioned those who have done so “not only with words, but by preparing “appropriate actions” to help Ukraine defend itself.

The G7 – which brings together the seven most industrialized democracies in the world – and New Zealand and Australia announced this Tuesday that they are preparing a coordinated response to the entry of North Korean personnel into the Russian-Ukrainian war.

“Now, our countermeasures must be sufficient. Strong enough,” Zelensky added.

According to Ukraine and some of its allies, North Korea has already deployed to Russia more than 10,000 soldiers. Some of them have already joined the Russian troops fighting the Ukrainian Army in the Russian region of Kursk, bordering Ukraine and partially occupied by kyiv forces since August.
