Zelenski has attended the meeting dressed in his traditional military green uniform, which he wears to “remind” the world of the war his country is suffering. A red carpet had been laid at the foot of the French aircraft and a large array of Japanese diplomatic, security and airport personnel awaited him.

Subsequently, he got into a dark vehicle that was part of a large convoy located on the same runway. Security measures have been reinforced after what happened about a month ago with the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida. He had to be evacuated from a campaign event after a small device exploded a few meters from where he was.
