Zelensky arrives in Berlin with the aim of persuading Germany to send more weapons to Ukraine

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenskyhas arrived in Berlin on his first visit to Germany since the Russian invasion of his country began, as he himself reported on social networks, where he alluded to the fact that in the German capital he will address issues related to “weapons” and “reconstruction”.

The Ukrainian president arrived in Berlin from Rome, where he made an official visit on Saturday, and the program of his stay is unknown, which the German authorities have not yet made public, although he is expected to meet with the chancellor, Olaf Schölzand the federal president, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

“Already in Berlin,” Zelensky tweeted upon arriving in the German capital, adding: “Weapons. Solid package. Air defense, reconstruction. EU. NATO. Security.”

The Ukrainian president’s visit takes place on the same day as the handover ceremony of the Charlemagne Prize in the city of Aachen (western Germany), although it is unknown if Zelensky will go there to pick him up. The Board of Trustees of the Charlemagne Prize announced last December that it would grant the award in 2023 to Zelensky and the entire Ukrainian population.

The president of the country and the Ukrainians represent “not only the defense of the sovereignty as a country of Ukraine, but of the Europe as a whole and its values“, according to the argument of that institution, informs efe.
