September 24 () –
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday accused Russia before the United Nations Security Council of preparing an attack on three of its nuclear plants and claimed to have “proof” of this.
“As we approach winter, Russia is once again trying to destroy our energy system, and this autumn they are being even more cynical: they are preparing to attack our nuclear power plants, three of them,” he said.
Zelensky stressed before the Security Council that Russian President Vladimir Putin “has violated so many international norms and rules that he will not stop on his own,” so Russia must be “forced” to negotiate peace.
“Unity always works for peace and we must prepare the second peace summit to put an end to the war completely,” the Ukrainian president reiterated, calling on countries to “join” kyiv in this process.
The United Nations Security Council met on Tuesday at the request of the United States, France, Japan, Malta, South Korea and the United Kingdom to discuss the war in Ukraine, unleashed by Russia on February 24, 2022.
