YouTube retracts its tests to place 4K videos after a Premium subscription

A few days ago we commented that some users they were seeing how YouTube placed the possibility of watching videos in 4K resolution behind a paywall in the form of a Premium subscription, something that again showed the desire to obtain the more money the better in the form of these subscriptions.

Nevertheless, as we can read on the official YouTube account on Twitter, that is going to change, because we can read in the tweet under these lines how this was –as we already imagined–an A/B type experiment made on the platform to check the experience of users affected by this change compared to those who were not affected.

It is possible that, given the negative change in his experience, in addition to the controversy that has been seen on social networks about this change, he finally YouTube has decided not to go ahead with this changeor postpone it for a future with even higher resolutions, because it would not be surprising that, although 4K videos can remain free, higher resolutions such as 8K if they are behind a paywall.

In any case, for now we can breathe easy if we want to watch videos in this higher resolution, either because we have a 4K monitor or because the increase in quality that the higher bandwidth of 4K videos entails is noticeable enough enough to make it our preferred resolution when watching videos.
