Man robs a store with an NES Zapper

I agree with you official reportsDavid Joseph Dalesandro, just 25, walked into a Kwik Stop store on York Street in Sharon, South Carolina, wearing a mask, wig and hoodie. He then showed the counter clerk the fake gun and demanded the money. It is estimated that the loot from him was $300 USD.

The incident took place last Tuesday, May 30 at 5:45 PM, according to the report. Fortunately, local authorities found the alleged criminal further down the street and arrested him at a Dollar General, a popular retail chain in the United States. The Nintendo Entertainment System gun was hidden in his pants.

The NES Zapper is a peripheral that debuted in 1984 in Japan, and was compatible with classics like duck hunt and Wild Gunman. Due to the Federal Toy Guns Act that went into effect in 1988, Nintendo had to color the gun to prevent it from being mistaken for the real thing. Of course, the original versions can still be found and purchased in collectors’ stores and portals such as eBay.

In this case, David Joseph Dalesandro painted the NES Zapper black to carry out the heist, although it was still possible to see the orange trigger. Of course, it is understandable that the employee did not identify that small detail in the heat of the robbery. It is unknown what the charges and possible conviction of the suspect will be.

Interestingly, it is not the first time that someone has used the toy gun to carry out a crime. In 2019, an alleged criminal used it to rob a bank in Mexico.

But tell us, what do you think of this incident? Let us read you in the comments.
