There is less than a year left for Microsoft to stop providing all types of updates to the Windows 10 operating system, and given that millions and millions of devices still use it, some truly worrying final months are expected.
The fact that Windows 11 is being adopted so slowly among consumers is due to the technical demands for this new operating system to be available on computers.
This will mean that when October 14, 2025 arrives, and Microsoft stop offering updates for Windows 10there will be millions of devices that will be exposed to hackers.
That is why those from Redmond thought of a way to help both individuals and companies so that their Windows 10 computers remain safe for years to come.
They previously announced an extended upgrade program for Windows 10, first for business and educational customers, and now for the public as well.
Specifically, these extended updates for business and educational customers will require them to pay $61 per device during the first year, $122 during the second year and $244 during the third.
Now we finally know what normal consumers will have to pay to continue having these exceptional Windows 10 updates after October 14, 2025.
Specifically, if you have a computer and want to continue with a completely secure Windows 10 you would have to pay 30 dollars.
The bad thing is that you will only be able to take advantage of these extended updates for one year, that is, there will not be two more years as business and educational clients have.
Also, regarding new features, certain bug fixes and technical support are not included in these extended security updates.
Microsoft will provide new details on how consumers will be able to enroll in this extended update program next year.
So, if you continue using Windows 10 on your computer after October 14, 2025, you would be exposed to attacks by hackers.
