What’s new for WhatsApp calls?
The company belonging to Meta pointed out through a publication on its blog that there are four improvements:
- Selection of call participants: When starting a call from a group chat you can now choose specific participants to call and not everyone in the channel. According to the messaging app, this function is “ideal for planning parties or surprise gifts,” as well as not “disturbing” those who do not need to participate in the conversation.
- New video calling effects: In October, the platform launched filters and backgrounds for this feature. With this update it adds 10 effects ranging from adding puppy ears to simulating that you are underwater or holding a karaoke microphone.
- Calling improvements on desktop: Users can now click the Calls tab in the desktop app and find what they need to initiate a call, create a link for one, or dial a number directly.
- “Better quality” video call: WhatsApp points out that, whether from the computer or cell phone, calls are now “more reliable”, as they have better video resolution and a clearer image for individual and group calls.
This year the company added features such as conversations with Meta AI, voice message transcriptions, personalized lists, sharing statuses, creating stickers directly on the platform and filters to find chats.
According to data from Statista in 2023, WhatsApp is the second social network with the highest percentage of users in Mexico, since about 92.2% of the population uses it.
