Yolanda Díaz will end up becoming fully involved in the campaign for the regional and municipal elections on May 28. Although the second vice president always emphasized that her Sumar platform was not running in these elections and that she preferred to go only to places where broad agreements of progressive formations had been reached, finally she will go to 18 events in up to 11 autonomous communities and with candidacies from all.
Although it will have a greater presence in those territories where unity candidacies do present themselves, such as Navarra or Catalonia, it will also be present in places where there is competition between different left-wing lists, such as Valencia or Madrid.
Yolanda Díaz will campaign, for example, for the Podemos and Izquierda candidate for the Valencian Generalitat, Héctor Illueca, in an act on May 24 in Alicante and will do the same a day later with the Compromís candidate for the Valencian city council, Joan Ribó .
In Madrid, the vice president will go to support a United Podemos candidacy in Alcorcón, with the candidate for the municipal elections Jesús Santos, but she will also show her support for the broad left-wing candidacy that is running for re-election in Rivas Vaciamadrid and in which she does not there is Podemos, which decided not to participate due to the lack of agreement in the Community as a whole. She will also coincide with the candidates of Más Madrid, Podemos and Izquierda Unida in the acts of the San Isidro festival on May 15.

From Sumar they emphasize that although as a platform they do not stand for the elections “we are aware of their importance for the citizenry. In our country, it is the municipalities and the Autonomous Communities that manage to a large extent the powers associated with the Welfare State: the schools of our sons and daughters, the health centers, the dependency and a long etcetera”, they point out. And that is why they explain that Yolanda Díaz will participate “in order to help progressive formations consolidate governments that have served to recover citizenship rights and promote confluence candidacies that can do so in the near future.”
Still officially in the pre-campaign, the Galician politician will start her journey in the face of 28M in the Community of Madrid. He will do so in an act on May 10 in Alcorcón to support the candidacy of Jesús Santos, the head of the list for the municipal elections of Podemos and Izquierda Unida. The next day it will stop at Lena and Mieres (Asturias).
Yolanda Díaz will especially focus on Catalonia, where she has one of Sumar’s main supporters in the commons of Ada Colau and where, furthermore, there is no competition between different candidacies in the space. There she will officially start the campaign in Montcada on May 12 and will remain on May 13 for the first act with Colau in Barcelona.
Already on May 15, on the festival of San Isidro, his particular bobbin lace will begin to be close to different candidacies that will compete with each other at the polls. As already happened during the May 1 demonstration for Labor Day, the vice president plans to be together with the Más Madrid candidates for City Hall and the Community, Rita Maestre and Mónica García (both supported Díaz in the presentation of Sumar), but also with the heads of the list of Podemos and Izquierda Unida, Roberto Sotomayor and Alejandra Jacinto.
