Yoigo has confirmed having experienced an incident in which third parties outside the organization had access to some personal data of the users of the telephone company.

Several users have shared through social networks the internal statement they have received from the telemarketer, in which it acknowledges a cybersecurity incident that can lead to phishing attacks, which “are usually attempts to identity theft”.

The cybercriminals would have accessed data such as the names, addresses or telephone numbers of Yoigo clients, which has insisted in this statement that it is frequent that these types of cyberattacks occur in companies.

Without detailing the number of people affected by this attack, the company, owned by Grupo MásMóvil, explained that it has reinforced technical security measures to prevent this incident from happening again and that has modified the security information that requests users in various processes “so that criminals cannot access with the stolen information.”

Likewise, it has indicated that it is monitoring all its processes “in order to detect anomalies in the management of the lines and the contracting of new services”, as it indicates in this notification that it has sent to all its clients and that they have shared through social networks like Twitter.

With this, it has reported that it is possible that in the coming days it will request other types of information from these users, as well as additional checks, to make sure that it is really dealing with its customers and that a phishing attack is not taking place. ‘.

With this, it has recommended being careful with emails of dubious origin, SMS or calls from unknown senders “especially if they request codes, access codes or credit card details.

Finally, he recalled that, in the event of detecting any suspicious activity, Yoigo customers must contact their bank and the National Institute of Cybersecurity (INCIBE), to resolve doubts or cybersecurity problems.
