Fiber to the home or FTTH has become the most common way to connect to the Internet from home in recent years. The next step that operators are taking is to go a little further and create fiber networks within the home to take advantage of the high bandwidths offered in their most advanced rates. Although there are 10 GbE Ethernet solutions and WiFi routers that exceed these figures, the truth is that many users do not have such networks, and a large part of the contracted speed is lost between the router, connected to FTTH, and the equipment that uses the Internet.
The FTTR (Fiber to the Room) It is a technology that uses fiber optic cables inside the home, taking advantage of the fact that they are much thinner, practically invisible and flexible, and allow very high bandwidths from which the router signal can be carried directly without loss and without the need to use wider cables.
Movistar and Euskaltel have been offering it for a few months, and now they are joining YoigoThe company already offers fiber to the room service to its clients, taking the signal to extra rooms equipped with a module with two RJ45 LAN and a WiFi 6 access point. Installation is free with a 1-year stay, however, users who want this service will have to pay 10 euros per month just for adding a room with FTTR, and each additional room costs 5 euros.
The created network and the repeater equipment are only valid for Yoigo, so if we change companies we will have to return them.
