Yes to love, no to war: Tinder leaves Russia in defense of human rights

Match Group said on Monday that it will leave Russia by June 30. “We are committed to the protection of human rights,” the company reported when announcing its decision.

The Texas-based firm announced the news in its annual impact report, a summary of its progress on social and environmental responsibility.

“Our brands are taking steps to restrict access to their services in Russia and will complete their withdrawal from the Russian market by June 30, 2023,” it said.

Most big Western companies ended or suspended operations in protest of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, while Chinese companies expand their presence.

Russia, which is seeking to reduce its dependence on the West, has shored up its domestic technology sector in recent years.

The output of Tinder It also comes as Russia has tightened laws to regulate the technology sector, against a backdrop of increasing political repression.
