XM: energy price on the stock market fell 44% in March

After in February, the price of energy on the stock market rise to $533.7, during March, this had a significant decline. According to XM, operator of the electricity market, indicated that on average it was located at $296.6 per kilowatt, which means a decrease of 44.4%.

“This price is lower compared to the prices registered from December 2022 to February 2023, but it is still above the value registered in November 2022”, explained Cecilia Maya, manager of the XM Wholesale Market.
However, when compared to the same period last year, it is evident that the kilowatt average was 29% higher.

During the third month of the year 87.2% was produced with hydroelectrics and 12.8% with thermals.

The amounts of lthe purchases of energy tradersa during this month was $380,171 million, since the average exposure to the stock market was 16.5%.

Likewise, the average price of $286 for the regulated market, while for the non-regulated one was $276.6. In both cases there were also falls of 0.96% and 1.14% respectively. XM pointed out that $3.25 trillion was traded in the Wholesale Energy Market, 18.80% more than what was traded in the same month of 2022, of which $638,849 million corresponded to purchases on the energy market.

Similarly, in long-term contracts in March $2.16 trillion were settled, a value 18.72% higher than that seen in the same period last year.
