Phil Spencer doesn’t rule out Microsoft buying more video game developers
“This is such a competitive market, I don’t think we need to pause anything. Tencent is the largest gaming company on the planet today and they continue to invest heavily in game content and game creators. Sony is a bigger business than us in gaming today and they continue to invest”, he declared.
Of course, they cannot buy the entire market. So they have also considered making alliances with some developers.
“We strive to be a major player here. We want to offer great content for our players and we will stay active, whether it is investing in our internal teams that are already creating great games that people know and love, whether it is building new partnerships (…) And if it becomes a merger work and acquisitions, we are also active there. So the work for us is never done. It’s a competitive market and I want to make sure Xbox is at the forefront of innovation and competition.”, he added.
