Of course, we are talking about Cities: Skylines IIthe ambitious city-building simulator developed by Colossal Order and published by Paradox Interactive. While the computer version debuted in 2023 and is currently available no extra charge in the PC Game Pass library, the console port still has no release date and its debut in 2024 is in doubt.

Originally, the studio planned to release the sequel in Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 during the first half of 2024; however, problems in achieving the desired performance forced the port for consoles to be delayed. At that time, he explained that the objective was to release these versions in October.

The developer studio emphasizes that they are making slow and steady progress, but highlights that there are still unresolved issues that affect gameplay and harm the experience. In the statement, it explains that the console versions will undergo “a thorough review in August”, which will serve to determine whether the new release date can be announced.

Colossal Order understands the players’ discontent, but reaffirms its commitment to keeping the community informed of the entire development process, even if the news “is not always what we would like.” Finally, it thanked the fans for their support and patience.

Although it is a shame that Cities: Skylines II not coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass in October as planned, moving the launch to ensure the best quality seems like the right decision. At this time, the construction simulator has mixed reviews on Steam. The studio responsible had to delay the DLC to improve the PC version.
