X will allow disabling of answer links to reduce spam

July 22 (Portaltic/EP) –

X (formerly Twitter) is working on a new feature that will allow users of the platform to disable links posted by others in replies to their posts in an effort to reduce spam content.

Currently, the social network allows users to respond to posts shared by other people by adding photos, videos, GIFs, polls, emojis and URLs from other websites.

The latter sometimes causes ‘spam’ is sharedTo avoid this, X is developing a feature that will automatically disable the added enals in the responses, as recently verified by the application researcher Nima Owji.

This is a button included in the social network’s ‘Settings’, which must be activated for its use, and which has also been confirmed by the platform’s Senior Director of Security Engineering, Christopher Stanley. “My team has created this,” he has clarified from his X profile.

This new feature will limit the impact of bots that share this type of content, but it could also be a problem for those who want to share links to legitimate sources in case they are trying to discredit false information, as recalled by the company. Engadget.
