X (Twitter) for iOS automatically modifies domains in mentions to other accounts to 'x.com'

x, Before Twitter, it has begun to automatically modify domains in its version for iOS, so that those users who refer to a platform account like 'twitter.com' in a post, you will eventually see it reflected in the 'feed' as 'x.com'.

The owner of the platform, Elon Musk, announced that he would change its name at the end of July last year, when he also indicated that he intended to consolidate it as a service focused “on audio, video, messaging and payments” powered by Artificial Intelligence ( AI).

After replacing the social network's characteristic little blue bird icon, as well as making other modifications to its service, it was the domain's turn in September 2023 as well. At least, in certain circumstances.

Although X is currently shown with both this name and the black letter icon in both the web version and the mobile 'app', this name coexists with its original name, since the domain is still shown twitter.com in the 'url' in the web version.

The company would have taken new actions regarding the domains of its service for iOS, since some users have verified that X automatically changes mentions to other accounts such as 'twitter.com' to 'x.com', something that does not happen in the web version of the social network.

In the event that a user clicked on this last link, the platform would redirect them to the X account 'netflitwitter.com' instead of taking them to the website of said streaming service.

Other users of the platform, however, have reported that the change implemented by X has also affected previously shared publications and not only those of these days.

Likewise, Mashable has indicated that although X has launched a patch for some of the domains affected by this change – being the case of 'Netflitwitter.com', X for iOS is still modifying references from 'twitter.com' to 'x.com'.
