X implements tags for parody accounts

x (former Twitter) has begun to implement new tags designed for identify accounts dedicated to the parody on the social network, with the aim of increasing transparency and guaranteeing that users can identify this type of content to avoid deception or misunderstandings.

The ‘microblogging’ social network has different verification labels displayed in account profiles to provide more context about their activity. These labels include the verifications blue, gold and gray to identify accounts subscribed to X Blue, as well as commercial and government organizations, among others.

Now, as was announced in November of last year, X has begun to implement a new type of designed label to identify accounts that post parody contentin order to inform users about this type of joke or satire content and avoid misunderstandings with other accounts of real personalities.

This is what the social network itself has shared in a post on Safety accountwhere he explained that it is a measure that aims increase the transparency of the platform and “ensure that users are not deceived and think that said accounts belong to the entity that is being parodied.

In this sense, X has clarified that these new labels will be displayed both in the publications as in the account profile to “clearly” show the source of the content seen in the ‘feed’.

With all this, X has indicated that they will share more details soon about When will the use of this tag be mandatory for parody accounts. In addition, he recalled that, like the rest of the social network accounts, parody profiles “must comply with the Rules of X”, above all, with their Authenticity policy.
