It is highlighted that for the first quarter of 2024, a level of working poverty is also observed lower than that of the first quarter of 2020, prior to the pandemic, which was 36.6%.
“The annual decrease in working poverty occurred in a context where the number of employed people increased by approximately 628,800; this annual increase in the number of employed people is less than that shown in the first quarter of 2023 (2.4 million employed people).” said Coneval.
The annual decrease in working poverty occurred alongside an increase in real labor income per capita of 7.2%, going from 3,058.60 to 3,277.58 real pesos per month.
There was an annual decrease in working poverty in 25 of the 32 states.
Campeche stands out with a decrease of 7.3 percentage points, Veracruz with 6.6 and San Luis Potosí with 6.5.
On the other hand, the three entities that presented the greatest increases in working poverty during the same period were Hidalgo with 7.3 percentage points; Baja California with 2.9 and Oaxaca with 2.5 points.
