Mothers and wives of Russian soldiers demonstrated this Monday in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense in Moscow to ask for their return home.
Social media posts show more than 20 women, some of them with small children, carrying banners with slogans such as “It’s time for the mobilized to come home” — in reference to the September 2022 recruitment campaign. — or “Please let Dad come back.”
The women have asked to meet with the Russian Defense Minister, Andrei Belousov, according to the Russian portal Meduza, which is close to the opposition.
The Police responded immediately and deployed officers and a van for arrests. The protesters got down on their knees and asked them not to put them “in the van with the children”, according to one of the published videos.
Among the organizers there would be several groups of women, as explained by one of the attendees to the Agentstvo portal, although Put Domoi (The Way Home), the organization recently declared a foreign agent by the Russian authorities, does not appear.
