Italy live this Friday what will be the second general strike against the Government of Giorgia Meloni called by two major unions in Italy, CGIL and UIL, to protest against the 2025 General Budgets.
The mobilization, in which the other majority union CISL does not participate, was called to request a change in the general Budgets, considered insufficient to solve the country’s problems and to demand a increase in the purchasing power of wages and pensions and financing of health, education, public services and industrial policies.
The Minister of Transport, Matteo Salvinilimited the strike in the sector to four hours, alleging that there have been numerous stoppages in recent months, so in the Local, air and sea public transport will stop from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. respecting minimum services.
While in Air transport will be stopped from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and the Ita Airways company has already canceled 68 flights, of which 18 international and 50 national.
The strike will also affect healthcare sectorexcept for essential services that will be guaranteed in any case.
“General medicine doctors, outpatient clinics, psychologists, veterinarians, biologists, chemists, physicists, pharmacists and managers of health professions will participate in the strike against the worst Budget law of the last 30 years, which cuts resources, personnel and services to leave free field for profit and the private sector,” explained Andrea Filippi, national secretary of the sector for the CGIL.
In the field of education at the moment most schools have opened.
Demonstrations have also been scheduled throughout Italy in which members of the opposition Democratic Party (PD) will participate. In Rome, the leader of the PD, Elly Schlein, will march against the Budget.
