Microsoft has officially launched its Windows application for web browsersand iOS, macOS, and Android devices (in public preview), so that users will be able to connect to the work environment of this operating system from iPhones, Mac computers and browsers, to make use of its multiple functions.
The tech company announced its Windows app at its Microsoft Ignite 2023 developer event, when it shared its goal of unify all your cloud PC services into a single appas well as giving access to a remote desktop with Windows.
In this sense, the American company has been developing this application for the last year, which, finally, has reached preview phase for Windows, web, iOS and macOS, at the beginning of August.
Now, Microsoft has announced that the Windows app is now officially available for all major platformswhich includes macOS, iOS, iPadOS operating systems and web browsers, and has been released in public preview for Android.
As the company explained in a statement on his blog, This new unified application allows secure connection from virtually any device to the Windows work environment, whether from Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, Remote Desktop, Remote Desktop Services, Microsoft Dev Box and more.
This way, users can connect to “the Windows experience they know” from any device, with productivity features like customizable home screensthe multi-monitor support and the USB redirection.
Following this line, Microsoft has pointed out that the Windows application also offers advanced security featuresthis includes the multi-factor authenticationwith which the company guarantees “a solid connection” to work efficiently “from anywhere.”
All this is offered from a “uniform” experience“, that is, it simplifies the process and allows you to manage and use Windows resources from a single intuitive platformas Microsoft has clarified. However, it should be noted that, for the moment, the ‘app’ is only available for business and school accounts.
With all this, Windows users can download the application from Microsoft Store. For their part, Apple users can already get it from the App Store for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS. As for the Android version, it has been released in public preview mode, so we will have to wait for the official release.
