Windows 11 comes to Macs with M1 and M2 chips thanks to Parallels Desktop

Microsoft has authorized the Parallels Desktop solution as system to run Windows 11 Pro and Windows 11 Enterprise on Mac computers, made by Apple, with M1 and M2 chips.

Parallels Desktop is a platform that allows you to add Windows to a Mac computer. In this way, multiple operating systems, applications and services can be run simultaneously on a single device.

Microsoft has now announced that it has authorized the use of the Parallels Desktop version 18 for run ARM builds (central processing units that are based on a reduced instruction set architecture) Windows 11 Pro and Windows 11 Enterprise in computers of Apple equipped with chips M1 and M2.

The technology company has warned in this statement than the ARM version of Windows 11 has “some limitations that may affect” users’ ability “to use various types of ‘hardware,’ games and applications.”

This is because it is not compatible with ‘software’ DirectX 12, the set of multimedia technologies used in Windows games and other applications. It is also not compatible with applications that use the graphics API 3D OpenGL3.3 or higher.
