The technological giant Meta presented this Wednesday, June 5 your messaging app snapshot Threads, with which he wants to unseat Twitter.

This Tuesday, the intention of Meta, owner of applications such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, to launch the new social network Threads and that is linked to Instagram.

A QR code appears on the web to download the application in the Apple store.

According to some media, Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly already written on the web, where access has apparently been granted to some people and companies. His first message was: “Let’s do it. Welcome to threads“.

According to the American media Political, Meta will not make the new application available to users in the EU for fear of not complying with the controls on data protection that apply in the ‘old continent’.

The co-founder of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, and the owner of the social network, Elon Musk, have anticipated the launch and criticized that Threads will collect all kinds of user data.

Both maintained that, in accordance with the privacy conditions of the new application, which can now be consulted ‘online’, Threads may collect user identity, health and fitness, financial, browsing history, purchase, location, contact, and “sensitive information” data.

As they said, in total, the data belongs to about fourteen categories and “may be collected and linked to your identity”although Twitter is not far behind, since it takes data from ten categories, although it does not include health, financial, shopping or sensitive information.

Time

The president of Meta has long been planning the launch of a social network of online conversations in real time made by the competition to Twitter, a platform that, despite the ups and downs and restrictions it has suffered since its acquisition by billionaire Elon Musk, continues to seem irreplaceable.

Recently, Musk announced the imposition of daily limits on the number of posts users can readwhich, again, caused discomfort among the followers of the social network.

Since Musk bought Twitter last year, imposed different formulas to make the company profitable, as charge for verified accountswhich have turned out to be a fiasco, for which he was forced to return the status of “verified” to important accounts (for example, media or “influencers” with legions of followers) without having paid for it.

The Twitter service also changed modifying the algorithm that decides which posts are most visibleeliminated the content moderation rules that prohibit certain types of tweets and revised the verification process that confirms the identities of the users, allowing users of that social network to follow the same users that they follow on the platform to share photos and videos, keeping the same username.
