Third resignation in the British Government in less than 24 hours. After the resignations of the Ministers of Health and Finance, it is now the British Minister for Children and Families, Will Quince, who is leaving the Government. In his words, he does so after receiving an “inaccurate” report on Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s appointment of a politician who was the subject of sexual abuse complaints.
“Thank you for meeting with me last night and for your sincere apologies regarding the reports I received from Number 10 prior to Monday’s press round, which we now know to be inaccurate,” he said in his resignation letter to Johnson, which was posted on Twitter.
“It is with great sadness and regret that I feel I have no choice but to tender my resignation as Minister for Children and Families, having accepted and reiterated those assurances in good faith.”
