Will Psychonauts studio make Banjo-Kazooie or Conker sequels? Double Fine responds

Double Fine confirms it will not be working on new Banjo-Kazooie or Conker projects

Xbox has under its umbrella some of the most iconic franchises of the last decades. The only problem is that many remain dormant and without any signs of life. It remains to be seen if one day we will see a new project from Banjo-Kazooie either Conkerbut one thing is clear: Double Fine will not be responsible for reviving these sagas.

Last week, ASTRO BOTthe most recent exclusive of PlayStation 5immediately became the highest-rated game of 2024 to date. The studio led by Tim Schafer celebrated the launch and took the opportunity to share a very interesting piece of trivia.

Specifically, the company recalled that it worked alongside the deceased Japan Studio in My Alien Buddyan experience for Astro’s Playroom. The interesting thing is that the villain of that title closely resembles the main antagonist of the most recent project of Team ASOBI.

Double Fine will not be working on new installments of Banjo-Kazooie or Conker

One player noticed that the developer studio mentioned that they are fans of “platform games” in their post. So, they asked via a GIF if the company could work on a new installment of Banjo-Kazooiewhose last main game debuted in 2008 for the old Xbox 360.

Double Fine was blunt, stating that “No”. Immediately, another fan tried his luck and asked if he could make a new video game. Conkerthe irreverent platformer of Rare. Once again, the answer was negative. “No. We want to do ‘our’ games“, he said.

If they think of Double Fine when they think of brightly colored platformers, that’s great. But we’re going to make something new that people will love just as much,” the creative commented 4 years ago.
