( Spanish) — The monotributo is a tax regime that small taxpayers who carry out work on their own in Argentina can opt for, to comply with their tax obligations before the Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP). In exchange, certain benefits such as social work and the possibility of accessing a retirement are obtained.
People who aspire to be monotributistas must first register in the system. The steps are simple: you need a CUIT number (Clave Única de Identificación Tributaria), then you must select one of the categories in the Web page of the AFIP.
Who can be monotributistas?
Any person who sells furniture, locations or provides any service may access the monotribute. In turn, “whoever is part of an undivided succession that continues the economic work activity carried out by a person who was a single tax payer at the time of death”, according to the official website of the Government of Argentina, will have the possibility of being a single tax payer. Likewise, anyone who integrates a work cooperative may access the regime.
What benefits are obtained by being a monotributista?
The collecting agency of Argentina defines the monotax as a “tax simplification”, since with a single payment all obligations (profits and VAT) and social security obligations are covered.
The monotributista has the possibility of choosing a complete medical coverage that can be extended to the family group. In time, he too will be able to get a pension.
In addition, there is an incentive to comply. It is a refund in the event that the monotributista complies with the payment in a timely manner.
