Kola Bokinni is an actor best known for his role as Isaac in the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso. He previously starred in an episode of Black Mirror and Top Boy. His cousin, Mary Ellen, is a student.
As to whether the pair managed to get along throughout the race, Kola said Radio Times Magazine She found that she could “spend five weeks with my little cousin without us killing each other.”
“I discovered that, believe it or not, Kola is shy,” Mary Ellen said. “He was very shy when it came to talking to strangers. Unless, of course, they recognized him from Ted Lasso.”
Why did Kola and Mary Ellen want to participate in Celebrity Race Across the World?
“It’s not often you get to do something like this,” Bokinni said of why he wanted to participate.
“Obviously, I’ve traveled for my job, but I’ve always had to play other characters. But doing something and it being me and my family will allow me to see what it’s all about and test our skills a little bit. That’s why I wanted to do it, just to experience a different side of life and the world.”
As for Mary Ellen, she explained: “I guess I just want to make memories with my cousin and have the adventure of a lifetime.”
