The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) continues its mission to grow the carbon-neutral tourism sector in Thailand, in accordance with the Thai government’s bio-circular-green economy or BCG model, that is taking the tourism sector in a more sustainable and responsible direction.
In effect, the TAT is using the concept of “adjust, reduce, compensate” in the development of business and prototypes of tourism activities that are in line with Carbon Neutral Tourism, using tourism resources efficiently to obtain maximum benefits. .
In addition, the entity is working to build capacity, develop and expand the management of carbon neutral tourism in a suitable way for tour operators, which creates cooperation in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The focus is on converting tourism activities into low carbon emission activities, with the aim of achieving a reduction in environmental impact. Carbon credits can be provided for the footprint created, as well as a source to absorb greenhouse gases, to reduce the total impact to zero (no or virtually no greenhouse gas emissions).
