Pokémon GO brings another special capture and this time it is not only a legendary, but its mega evolution. This mechanic first came to the anime and was later enabled in the different video games, including the mobile title. Several gamers can already mega evolve Charizard or other creatures and now it’s Rayquaza’s turn.
The powerful legendary creature will be the protagonist of the 2023 Pokémon GO Fest that will take place in three cities around the world. The Japanese edition will be in Osaka from August 4 to 6; On those same dates, the festival will take place in London, while the United States edition will be in New York from the 18th to the 20th of the same month.
The rest of the players who will not attend the indicated places will have to wait a little longer before they can capture Mega-Rayquaza. The creature’s world debut will be on August 26 and you will be able to capture it only until the 27th.
How to mega evolve Rayquaza?
Niantic does not want to make it simple. As it is one of the most powerful Pokémon in the game, it cannot be Mega Evolved with Mega Energy. Trainers will need to teach their Rayquaza the Draco Rise charged attack, which can only be learned with the “Meteors” item.

When you attack with a Mega Rayquaza in a raid or Gym battle, attacks from other Trainers’ Pokémon participating in the same raid or Gym will deal more damage. Your Pokémon’s attacks will do even more damage if the attack is a Flying, Psychic, or Dragon-type.
When Rayquaza has Mega Evolved, catching Flying-, Psychic-, or Dragon-type Pokémon will give you extra XP, more Candy, and a better chance to gain ++ Candy.
Like other Mega Evolved Pokémon, Rayquaza’s Mega Level will increase the more times it Mega Evolves, giving you better bonuses.
