With this new version introduces a new way to update statuses of WhatsApp, which will allow you to add an audio note. This new function has been called “voice status”. This voice status can be added by means of a new icon that shows a microphone, and that has been placed in the lower part next to the camera and the status edition icon. By clicking on it you can record a message that will remain as a WhatsApp status.

This voice status can only be shared with the people you have selected according to your privacy settings. He also tells us that this voice memo will be end-to-end encrypted to preserve its content.

For now this feature is under development and it is not known when it will be released to users of the app’s beta channel.
