How does Chat Lock work?
The idea of the new feature is that it allows you to lock a chat, take it out of the inbox and put it in another specific folder, which can be accessed only with the device password or with biometric data, such as a fingerprint.
And don’t worry about notifications, once this chat is secured, notifications will stop automatically appearing on the screen.
How to use the new function?
To lock a chat, just click on the name of the chat that appears at the top when it is opened. There the option Chat lock will appear.
Once clicked, WhatsApp will ask to confirm the action and enter the lock mode (with device password or fingerprint).
We think this feature is great for those who occasionally need to share their phone with a family member or times when someone holds your phone at the exact moment a special chat comes your way, pointed out the company and announced new ways to block chats to come.
For example, there will soon be the ability to lock chats on linked devices and to create a custom password for chats that is different from the one used on the phone.
