“While you are on a call with a contact, you can request to switch to a video call. The other person can click OK or Change to change the call, or Cancel to reject the request.” details the WhatsApp blog.

- The call will change to video call if the contact accepts the change.
WhatsApp call links
In the WhatsApp beta, work has been done on invitation links for calls with the aim of sharing it with anyone you do not have added to your contact list.
“We’re rolling out call links to WhatsApp starting this week so you can share a link to start a call with a single tap. We are also testing secure encrypted video calls for up to 32 people. more very soon”, explained Mark Zuckerberg on his Facebook at the end of 2022.
