( ) — Attention Marvel fans. The time has come to “save the galaxy” (again, for the third time).
The third installment of “Guardians of the Galaxy” hits the big screen in a few days and will bring back Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, Drax, Nebula and more characters from the hit Marvel franchise.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” hits theaters on May 4 in Latin America and the May 5 in the United States.
The film is one of the most anticipated of the MCU, since has been in preparation since 2019 and its characters have earned the affection of the public.
Here are the details you need to know before the premiere.
Will it be the last “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie?
Without turning the matter around: yes.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” is the last chapter that this franchise will have, as previously known.
Cast members have spoken about it, including Dave Bautista, who plays Drax. In January, the actor said that he loves the character and is very grateful to him, but is “relieved” that it is finally over.
“It wasn’t all pretty. It was tough playing that part,” he added. “The makeup process was wearing me down. And I don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy – he’s a goofy performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff.”
In a video titled “One Last Ride” on Marvel Entertainment’s YouTube, the stars of the cast, James Gunn —director of the franchise and now co-CEO of DC Studios— and producers talked about their experience in the movies and how enriching it was.
“For each and every one of us, living within the Marvel Universe has been very special. Everyone comes to work with the same excitement from day one,” Zoe Saldaña, who plays Gamora, comments in the video.
“Being a part of something that is so universally loved is special. It’s hard to put into words. It’s been incredible,” Chris Pratt, who plays Peter Quill/Star-Lord, mentions in the same video.
Synopsis and cast
The advances of the film have already let us see a little of what it will deal with.
In it first trailer of the film, which was released in December last year, you can see Star-Lord (played by Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Groot ( voice of Vin Diesel) and Rocket Raccoon (voice of Bradley Cooper). Rocket, in particular, is seen a lot, including in a flashback scene where he’s a little space raccoon, promising viewers some backstory.
Gamora is less present in that trailer, as after the events of 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame” she is no longer aware of her association with the team. Marvel fans can’t wait to see how he’ll fit into the story of volume 3, and if he’ll in any way be reminiscent of his friends (and his love for Peter Quill/Star-Lord).
the second trailer —and the last one so far— opened on Super Bowl Sunday 2023. In it, some clues are given about how Peter Quill/Star-Lord deals with the loss —and the return— of his beloved Gamora.
The synopsis on the Marvel website reads: “In Marvel Studios’ ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ our beloved band of misfits looks a little different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must assemble his team to defend the universe and protect one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could spell the end of the Guardians as we know them.”
In addition to the characters already mentioned as part of the first trailer, the third “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie will include, according to IMDbAyesha (played by Elizabeth Debicki), Kraglin (Sean Gunn), Stakar Ogord (Sylvester Stallone), Adam Warlock (Will Poulter), The High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), among others.
