Welfare Pension for women aged 60 to 64: amount, requirements, when and how to register and more

( Spanish) – Registration for the new economic support program for women aged 60 to 64, which was one of Claudia Sheinbaum’s campaign promises, began this Monday.

The president has said that this program aims to recognize the work at home of older women in Mexico and to ensure that they have a certain economic autonomy.

“Now, women between 60 and 64 years old, prior to the senior citizen pension, will have support that gives them some autonomy, recognition, so that they can do whatever they want, which is why this program is for women. women caregivers of the history of Mexico,” Sheinbaum said in July.

Below, we explain everything you need to know.

The pension will be 3,000 pesos (about US$154) which will be delivered bimonthly through the Banco del Bienestar card, according to the official page of Wellbeing Programs.

The delivery of the pension will be carried out in a staggered manner. In 2025, indigenous women aged 60 to 64 will be the first to benefit from the program, as well as women aged 63 and 64, while for the remaining ages it will be delivered starting in 2026.

People interested in registering can do so from October 7 to November 30 in the modules of the Ministry of Welfare that can be located on the page gob.mx/bienestarselecting the entity and the municipality in which they are located.

To speed up the process, the authorities implemented a registration order for women aged 63 and 64 according to the initial letter of their first surname:

In her campaign for the presidency, Sheinbaum announced that in the first year the program would benefit one million women, which will imply an additional expense for the State of almost US$ 1.1 billion, while by 2025 it would become universal and cover around 2.5 million women.
